OUR MUSEUM
The museum is for the purpose of collecting, preserving, exhibiting, and interpreting the history of the
Island's Indigenous people.
Chartered by the New York State Board of Regents, Department of Education, University of New York - March 2014
She was the first woman of
color to earn a medical degree in
New York State.  Her father
was of Montaukett heritage and
her mother was said to have
been born on the Shinnecock
Reservation.
